Brisbane Muslim Burial Services Inc.
Brisbane Muslim Burial Services Inc (BMBS) was established in April 2006 to manage the Ghusl facilities at the Kuraby Musjid.
BMBS is an autonomous organization, is managed by volunteers and operates on a not for profit basis.
Over the years the services provided have gradually increased.
In 2010 Muslim Funeral Services Ltd (MFS) was established to provide the Funeral Director Services as well as to manage a Funeral Savings Fund in a joint venture between BMBS and the Gold Coast Islamic Society. In April 2010 our first hearse was generously donated to BMBS.
BMBS will continue to assist with and provide the facilities at the Kuraby Mosque to perform the ghusl and all the other funeral arrangements for the deceased within the local community.
The Kaffan and all utilities required to perform the ghusl as well as the burial are provided by BMBS.
Once the local council excavates the grave for burial, it is then prepared internally with concrete blocks in preparation for burial by BMBS.
After the Ghusl is performed and the Janaza salah is completed, the Janaza proceeds to the Mt Gravatt Cemetery for burial. There is a designated Muslim section at the cemetery. MFS Ltd manages all the transport arrangements.
BMBS inaugural committee members:
In 2017 this entity and all its activities was fully merged into Muslim Funeral Services Ltd and no longer exists as a separate entity.

Over the years the services provided have gradually increased.
- We initially provided the ghusl room facilities including the kaffan and assisted with the ghusl
- later began to provide a free 'sms funeral notice service' for funerals taking place across South East Queensland
- since 2009 BMBS began doing the preparation of the graves internally for burial (block and timberwork) for ghusls performed at our Kuraby facility
- then in 2010, Muslim Funeral Services Ltd was established.
